Led by a Montessori trained Directress and two assistants our class does not exceed 15 Toddlers (ratio 1:5). Our classroom is designed to provide a safe environment for toddlers to explore freely and learn through hands-on experience. We prioritise the child's development of gross and fine motor skills, language, cognitive and social-emotional growth through the 5 Montessori learning areas.

Pre-School:

3 – 6 years

The 3 age groups in this environment are led by Montessori trained Directresses who nurture 15 children under their attentive wings. When combined, the three age groups form a classroom that represents Vertical Grouping at its best. Our younger children look up to the older children and older children are inspired to set the right example to the younger ones. This environment uses the 5 Montessori learning areas to satisfy your child’s natural wonder and curiosity while providing a safe space to explore and discover the world around them.
We have added enhancements to our Montessori curriculum with regards to our Grade R learners which have helped them prepare for the move to our Primary School.

Primary School:

Grade 1-7

Maria Montessori House follows the National Curriculum from Grade 1-7.
Unlike a traditional Montessori school, our primary school is divided into the different grade levels. Grades 1-3 remain with their class teacher for all subjects, while grades 4-7 transition to specialised subject teachers. With a focus on hands-on, experiential learning, we offer a dynamic curriculum that encourages learners to take responsibility for their own education. Our educational programme draws from both conventional and Montessori ideologies, with a combination of 5 different pedagogical approaches namely, the constructivist, collaborative, reflective, integrative, and inquiry-based. Our classes do not exceed 15 learners in a grade supporting the growth of a child’s independence and academic advancement.
